Development, characterization, functional annotation and validation of genomic and genic-SSR markers using de novo next generation sequencing in Melia dubia Cav

Abstract
Melia dubia Cav. , a fast-growing tropical tree finds use in plywood, pulp and high-value solid wood products. To increase its productivity, we must essentially capture genetic diversity and identify genotypes with superior wood properties. This study aimed to develop novel microsatellite markers from genomic data and validate the markers in M. dubia. Direct Seq-to-SSR approach was adopted and using an in-house Perl script, 426,390 SSR markers identified.
